Finishes

We are happy to give advice on the finishes most suitable to each stone according to your individual requirements.

ANTIQUED	A newly quarried stone that has been fettled to produce an antique finish
BUSH HAMMERED	Stone textured by rotating small hammers
FLAMED	Stone that has been subjected to heat to produce a rough texture, ideally suited for non slip areas
HAND FINISHED	Usually made by machine and finally worked by hand
HANDMADE	Entirely hand formed by local craftsman
HONED	Machined or hand worked to give a smooth finish
POLISHED	Stone machined or hand worked to produce a polished surface
RIVEN	A textured surface due to the material being hand split
TUMBLED	Mainly used for marble, takes off hard edges of cobbles
