Slate
African Gold, Beijing Green, Black, Farmhouse Rustic, Grey, Heather, Lavender, Silverblue, Atomic Grey (Honed), Black (Honed), Copper (Honed), Ocean Green (Honed)
Slate is basically compacted mud and was mainly formed in the Devonian period around 375 million years ago. Slate consists of minute mud and clay particles, that have been made rock hard by heat and pressure over millions of years. The colouring in some of the slate flooring is formed by iron oxides during metamorphism. Some of the slates by virtue of having a higher silicate make up are harder and therefore useful for external applications.
